The fact that it crashes your computer prolly means that the game is addressing a wrong device OR that the system bios features are not properly enabled. I would go into the game directories, using explorer, and find any files which are sound related (sort by type). It sounds like playback of media files works but synthesis is breaking down. I do not know what chipset (realtek?) but, diagnostics may exist, either from the mfg support site, from the mobo mfg, or in the public domain.
